According to this New York Times article, Donald Trump has run into some issues regarding data breaches in his hotels. There are a few important lessons here regarding hospitality cybersecurity:
1) It is very difficult to prevent a determined team of hackers,
2) Hackers love to embarrass and troll high profile targets,
3) In this case, not being transparent with guests about the breach for four months resulted in $50K in fines and untimely negative press. As with any PR disaster, dealing with the issue earlier prevents it from re-appearing at the worst possible time, and causing additional financial and brand damage.
